DUI / DWI Defense

California DUI Defense

Arrested for DUI? We can help with your criminal case and the separate DMV process that could suspend your license.

Free initial consultation. Have your court papers or DMV notice nearby if available.

How we can help

The court case and the DMV process are related, but they are not the same proceeding. A result in one does not automatically decide the other. Early review helps preserve available options and gives the defense time to obtain reports, recordings, testing records, and other evidence.

When you call, tell us when you were arrested and what paperwork you received. We’ll ask about the stop and any breath or blood tests.

DMV hearing request

Check your suspension notice, the hearing deadline, and what you need to do to respond.

Stop and arrest review

Examine the stated reason for the stop, field investigation, arrest decision, and available recordings.

Chemical-test evidence

Review breath or blood testing, how samples were collected, and any claim that you refused a test.

Court defense

Obtain police reports and evidence, attend court, evaluate defenses, and discuss any plea offers with you.

What happens next

  1. Check the deadline first

We check your DMV notice and next court date to identify the deadlines that need attention.

  2. Preserve and obtain evidence

Available reports, recordings, testing records, and witness information are identified and reviewed.

  3. Address court and DMV requirements

We explain the defense plan and deadlines for both your court case and DMV hearing.

Documents that may help

You do not need all of these before calling. Start with what you have.

  • The pink or temporary-license paperwork and every DMV notice
  • Citation, booking, release, and court documents
  • The date, time, and location of the stop
  • Any breath, blood, or urine test information
  • Photos, receipts, messages, or witnesses that may help establish the timeline

Common questions

Is the DMV hearing the same as the criminal case?

No. The DMV hearing concerns your license and certain issues related to the arrest. The criminal case is handled in court. Each can have a different schedule and outcome.

Can I still drive after the arrest?

That depends on the paperwork, the status of your license, and any other holds or suspensions. Review the temporary-license and suspension documents immediately rather than assuming.

What if I refused a chemical test?

Refusal allegations can carry separate consequences and factual disputes. Bring every document you received and explain exactly what was said and what testing was offered.
